Features of a river basin





RIVER BASIN
RIVER BASIN

River Basin- 
The whole area of land that is drained by a river and its tributaries.

Watershed- 
An imaginary line through areas of high land. It separates the areas of land that are drained by two neighbouring river systems.

Source- 
The place where a river begins to flow.

Tributary- 
A smaller river that feeds into a larger river.

Confluence-
The place where a tributary joins the main river.

Mouth- 
The point at which a river flows into a sea.
